With all of the excitement around the arrival of the royal baby, I must admit that I’m having a hard time getting princes and princesses off of my mind. As such, I am using this royal moment to share some pics from my daughter’s 5th birthday last fall — which we dubbed “Princess Palooza!”
We sent out letterpress invitations featuring the sweet silhouette of a petite princess. If you’re a sucker for letterpress like I am, using a reply size card for invitations is a great way to enjoy the medium while saving a few dollars.
At the party, the girls were greeted with a whimsical cutout of Cinderella, holding a sparkly number “5!”
Inside, the first order of business was a costume change. “Charli’s Princess Parlor” —
Offered one-stop-shopping for punchy pink tutus (more practical for a twirl around the bounce house than full length ball gowns!)
Once decked out in their princess regalia, the girls played with the fun fairytale cutouts that my set-designer friend whipped up for the occasion. These included, Snow White:
The girls had so much fun “styling” Rapunzel’s hair!
It was a great treat to watch all of the petite princesses interact with these playful props.
Of course, the main attraction was the impressive princess bouncer! Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
Alas it was not all fun & games for the little ladies. My craft loving birthday girl requested “an art project,” so before sitting down to lunch, the princesses had the task of decorating their own wands:
The painting princesses!
We set out the Melissa and Doug wand kits on paper plates…
Furnished with stickers so that the girls could label their masterpieces.
The tables were decorated with dainty arrangements of pink spray roses…
with green accents for “pop.”
The girls happily munched on a birthday feast of chicken nuggets, berries and crudites.
Meanwhile, a royal court of princesses kept a watchful eye on the scene from the buffet table.
Finally, time for the cake:
And crown cookies!
We had on hand some simple craft paper bags decorated with “Princess Palooza” stickers for the princesses to pack up their goodies before riding off into the sunset.
Speaking of bags, THIS princess could go for this darling new Miu Miu purse — which also happens to be in keeping with the Princess Palooza color scheme:
Oh…and perhaps these glass slippers as well:
Where’s a Fairy Godmother when you need her? Here’s to happily ever after!
